What would your salary buy over there?

Enter your monthly salary and two countries. We convert it at purchasing-power parity — what money actually buys, not what the currency market says — and break it down by rent, groceries, eating out, transport and utilities.

That is 120% of the average local salary in United Kingdom.

Same buying power in Türkiye

TRY 71,941

a month would buy roughly the same basket of goods there as £3,000 does in United Kingdom.

At the market exchange rate

TRY 196,386

1 GBP = 65.46 TRY today. That overstates what your salary buys in Türkiye, because local prices are lower than in United Kingdom.

TRY 71,941 a month is about 172% of the average salary in Türkiye (TRY 41,750), so the same standard of living would feel at least as comfortable relative to local earners.

How it works

Your salary is first converted to US dollars at the market rate, then re-expressed in the destination currency at its purchasing-power parity rate — the rate at which a dollar buys the same basket of goods there as in the United States. The per-category rows use each country's price level for that kind of spending instead of one blanket figure.

equivalent salary = salary × exchange rate × (destination price level ÷ origin price level)

Price levels come from live World Bank purchasing-power-parity data (2025 figures), and exchange rates update daily. Average salary figures are calibrated from World Bank national income data.

This tool estimates relative purchasing power using cost-of-living data, not real-time financial exchange rates. Figures are approximate and for general understanding only — not financial advice.
